As a Zumba Instructor, I had the opportunity to know so many people. Different cultures, believes, ages, who have the same things in common: love for music, dance and the willingness to get healthier, fit or just have fun.
One of my zumba peers, Katia is an example of that. She is a beautiful Brazilian-Japanese girl, married, with two girls. She is totally addicted to Zumba; she goes not only to my zumba classes but other instructors’ too. She doesn’t miss a zumba event, Zumbathon or any Zumba get together. She comes to zumba because not only she likes the workout, the toning, the sweat and to shed some extra calories, she likes to have fun too. Even though she loves zumba so much, sometimes she have to juggle family and work and put Zumba at the bottom of her list.
Sometimes she felt so tired and discouraged; she didn’t want to feel that way at all. She wanted to be motivated and be more consistent with her classes so she challenge herself to complete 40 Zumba classes in 40 days! Not only that, she wanted to try a different class every day, with a different instructor. That would give her the opportunity not only to get the exercise she needs, but to create a routine and be more consistent. Also she would be able to know different instructors and enjoy all kind of zumba classes.
It has been amazing to follow her on Facebook, where she shares pictures and post her impressions about all the classes she goes. At the beginning she had to look for classes available in town, but as she continued with the challenge, she started to receive invitations from instructors from all over t-town to visit their classes.
She not only has lost some weight on her journey, she looks amazing and her smile reflects how proud she feels for herself and her accomplishment.
Katia is just about to finish her challenge, today is day 40 and I'm writing this blog not only to celebrate her achievements, but to show her how proud of her I am. I feel so blessed to be her friend and be part of her challenge.
I just wanted to share her story with other people who may feel the same way to Katia. Who wants to start to do some kind of exercise to get healthier, to get fit or just to have fun. It takes time, dedication, willpower and sacrifice, but now she has reached her goal, she knows it's worth it!
